Para Teqsports and Nem Adom Fel Alapítvány handed over a Teq Lite to GEMMA Központ, Szeged

Para Teqis

People with disabilities can play three different sports on the Hungarian-developed Teq Table that the Gemma Központ has received from the Nem Adom Fel Alapítvány for use. The innovative, multifunctional sports equipment will be used as part of daily physical education in the institution.

Initially, only teqball could be played on the specially curved table, but in the past few years additional 8 sport activities have been developed. The Teq Table was set up on Thursday at Gemma Központ's gym, where para teqsports for students with limited mobility were also presented.

Teqpong is similar to table tennis, but thanks to the curved table, it can also be played in a wheelchair. Teqvoly is similar to sitting volleyball, played accordingly in a team, but the table gets involved in the game. Teqis can be played by wheelchair user players, the court consists of the Teq table and its surroundings. All three sport activities are dynamic and prompt the athletes move - as evidenced by the pros' few-minute demonstration, but nothing proved the joy of Para Teqsports more than the young GEMMA students' endeavour to queue and try them out.

Szabolcs Papp, spokesman for the Nem Adom Fel Alapítvány, said that they could well use the Teq Table in their sensitization programmes, but as these are suspended due to the pandemic situation, the equipment was offered to the GEMMA Központ for use.

"It's always positive to have a special sport that can offer the opportunity for disabled people to move, as it gives them confidence and, of course, has a beneficial effect on health," he said.

Brigitta Hurgulyné Horváth, deputy principal of the GEMMA Központ, said that students of three classes are studying at the institution's new headquarters. The Teq Table will be used here, after the teachers' training has been completed. Para Teqsports will be integrated into the daily physical education programme, thus diversifying physical education for young people.

"This will be very useful, especially in winter, when our opportunities are limited," she added.
